ABSTRACT

As a byproduct of manufacturing soybeans, okara is high in dietary fiber, protein, and fats, and it contains all of the essential amino acids. Wheat, the primary ingredient in noodles, will lose nutrients during manufacturing, creating an imbalance in nutrients. This experiment is for the purpose of studying the effects of okara on quality, antioxidant properties, amino acid content, resistant starch (RS) content, and microstructure of noodles. The results indicate that the addition of 9% okara noodles increased hardness and adhesiveness by 107.19% and 132.14%, respectively, and improved ABTS free radical scavenging activity by 60.78%. The addition of 12% okara noodles increased the DPPH free radical scavenging ability by 23.66%, reduced the rapidly digestible starch (RDS) content of the noodles to 21.21%, and the resistant starch content increased to 44.85% (p < .05). Therefore, to address the issue of nutritional imbalance in wheat noodles without compromising the quality of the noodles, it is recommended to add 9% or 12% okara for the preparation of nutritionally fortified noodles.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: This meta-analysis sought to investigate the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) combined with surgery in patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS: With time span from January 2010 to December 2022, PubMed, Web of Science and Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang databases were searched for randomized controlled trials on comparison between NACT combined with surgery and surgery alone in patients with NSCLC. Then a meta-analysis was performed in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. RESULTS: A total of 1511 studies were retrieved and 12 were finally included. Meta-analysis results showed that compared with surgery alone, a combination of NACT and surgery was associated with higher treatment response rate (odds ratio, OR = 2.459, 95% confidence interval, CI [1.785, 3.388], P < 0.001), 1-year survival rate (OR = 2.185, 95% CI [1.608, 2.970], P < 0.001), and 3-year survival rate (OR = 2.195, 95% CI [1.568, 3.073], P < 0.001) and lower levels of intraoperative blood loss (standardized mean difference, SMD = -0.932, 95% CI [-1.588, -0.275], P = 0.005) and length of hospital stay (SMD = -0.481, 95% CI [-0.933, -0.028], P = 0.037). CONCLUSION: NACT combined with surgery is superior to surgery alone in the treatment of NSCLC and can promote postoperative recovery. Collectively, such combination is a safe and effective treatment for patients with NSCLC.

ABSTRACT

Chondrosarcoma (CHS) is a malignant bone tumor with insensitivity to both radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and a high recurrence rate. However, the latent mechanism of recurrent CHS (Re-CHS) remains elusive. Here, we discovered that FBXO22 was highly expressed in clinical samples of Re-CHS. FBXO22 played a significant role in various cancers. However, the role of FBXO22 in Re-CHS remained unclear. Our research demonstrated that suppressing FBXO22 abated the proliferation and migration of CHS cells and facilitated their apoptosis. In addition, suppressing FBXO22 raised the expression of PD-L1 in Re-CHS. All these findings provide new evidence for using FBXO22 and PD-L1 as combined targets to prevent and treat Re-CHS, which may prove to be a novel strategy for immunotherapy of CHS, especially Re-CHS.

ABSTRACT

Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is a predominant postoperative complication, often leading to visual impairment due to the aberrant proliferation and adhesion of lens epithelial cells (LECs) and protein precipitates subsequent to intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. To address this clinical issue, a foldable and antifouling sharp-edged IOL implant based on naturally-derived cellulose hydrogel is synthesized. The mechanical strength and transparency of the hydrogel is enhanced via repeated freeze-thaw (FT) cycles. The incorporated zwitterionic modifications can remarkably prevent the incidence of PCO by exhibiting proteins repulsion and cell anti-adhesion properties. The graft of dopamine onto both the haptic and the periphery of the posterior surface ensures the adhesion of the hydrogel to the posterior capsule and impedes the migration of LECs without compromising transparency. In in vivo study, the zwitterionic modified foldable hydrogel exhibits uveal and capsular biocompatibility synchronously with no signs of inflammatory response and prevent PCO formation, better than that of commercialized and PEG-modified IOL. With foldability, endurability, antifouling effect, and adhesive to posterior capsule, the reported hydrogel featuring heterogeneous surface design displays great potential to eradicate PCO and attain post-operative efficacy after cataract surgery.

ABSTRACT

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Jiegeng decoction (JGD), consisting of Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Platycodonis Radix at the ratio of 2:1, is a classical Chinese medicine prescription firstly recorded in "Treatise on Febrile Diseases". JGD has been extensively utilized to treat sore throat and lung diseases for thousands of years in China. However, the pharmacological effect and mechanism of JGD on acute pharyngitis (AP) remain unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY: Our research aimed to reveal the pharmacological effect of JGD on AP and its potential mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The chemical components of JGD were analyzed based on the UPLC-MS analysis. The anti-inflammatory effect of JGD was evaluated by NO production using the Griess assay in RAW.246.7 cells. The mRNA expression of iNOS, IL-1ß, IL-10, TNF-α, IL-6 and MCP-1 was determined by qRT-PCR in vitro. A 15% ammonia-induced AP model was established. The histopathology, the inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and MCP-1 in serum and the apoptosis-related genes caspease-8 and caspease-3 were determined by H&E staining, ELISA and qRT-PCR, respectively. The expression levels of p-p65, p65, p-JNK, JNK, p-p38, p38, p-ERK1/2, ERK1/2, and COX2 were measured through western blotting. RESULTS: Nine compounds, including liquiritin, liquiritin apiosde, liquiritigenin, platycodin D, platycoside A, licorice saponin J2, licorice saponin G2, glycyrrhizic acid, and licochalcone A, were identified. JGD significantly inhibited NO production and regulated the mRNA expression levels of cytokines in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The results of in vivo experiments confirmed that JGD ameliorated AP through improving the pathological state of pharyngeal tissue, decreasing the serum levels of IL-6 and MCP-1 and preventing the tissue mRNA expression of caspease-8 and caspease-3. Furthermore, JGD also inhibited the NF-κB and MAPK pathways in the AP model. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggested that JGD could alleviate AP through its anti-inflammation via NF-κB and MAPK pathways, which supported the traditional application of JGD for the treatment of throat diseases.

ABSTRACT

Numerous myofibroblasts are arisen from endothelial cells (ECs) through endothelial to mesenchymal transition (EndMT) triggered by TGF-ß. However, the mechanism of ECs transforms to a different subtype, or whether there exists an intermediate state of ECs remains unclear. In present study, we demonstrate Midkine (MDK) mainly expressed by CD31 + ACTA2+ECs going through partial EndMT contribute greatly to myofibroblasts by spatial and single-cell transcriptomics. MDK is induced in TGF-ß treated ECs, which upregulates C/EBPß and increases EndMT genes, and these effects could be reversed by siMDK. Mechanistically, MDK promotes the binding ability of C/EBPß with ACTA2 promoter by stabilizing the C/EBPß protein. In vivo, knockout of Mdk or conditional knockout of Mdk in ECs reduces EndMT markers and significantly reverses fibrogenesis. In conclusion, our study provides a mechanistic link between the induction of EndMT by TGF-ß and MDK, which suggests that blocking MDK provides potential therapeutic strategies for renal fibrosis.

ABSTRACT

Stretchable electroluminescent devices represent an emerging optoelectronic technology for future wearables. However, their typical construction on sub-millimeter-thick elastomers has limited moisture permeability, leading to discomfort during long-term skin attachment. Although breathable textile displays may partially address this issue, they often have distinct visual appearances with discrete emissions from fibers or fiber junctions. This study introduces a convenient procedure to create stretchable, permeable displays with continuous luminous patterns. The design utilizes ultrathin nanocomposite devices embedded in a porous elastomeric microfoam to achieve high moisture permeability. These displays also exhibit excellent deformability, low-voltage operation, and excellent durability. Additionally, the device is decorated with fluorinated silica nanoparticles to achieve self-cleaning and washable capabilities. The practical implementation of these nanocomposite devices is demonstrated by creating an epidermal counter display that allows intimate integration with the human body. These developments provide an effective design of stretchable and breathable displays for comfortable wearing.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of early lens extraction during pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) compared to those of PPV with subsequent cataract surgery. METHODS: This multicenter randomized controlled trial was conducted in three Chinese hospitals on patients with PDR, aged >45y, with mild cataracts. The participants were randomly assigned to the combined (PPV combined with simultaneously cataract surgery, i.e., phacovitrectomy) or subsequent (PPV with subsequent cataract surgery 6mo later) group and followed up for 12mo. The primary outcome was the change in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) from baseline to 6mo, and the secondary outcomes included complication rates and medical expenses. RESULTS: In total, 129 patients with PDR were recruited and equally randomized (66 and 63 in the combined and subsequent groups respectively). The change in BCVA in the combined group [mean, 36.90 letters; 95% confidence interval (CI), 30.35-43.45] was significantly better (adjusted difference, 16.43; 95%CI, 8.77-24.08; P<0.001) than in the subsequent group (mean, 22.40 letters; 95%CI, 15.55-29.24) 6mo after the PPV, with no significant difference between the two groups at 12mo. The overall surgical risk of two sequential surgeries was significantly higher than that of the combined surgery for neovascular glaucoma (17.65% vs 3.77%, P=0.005). No significant differences were found in the photocoagulation spots, surgical time, and economic expenses between two groups. In the subsequent group, the duration of work incapacity (22.54±9.11d) was significantly longer (P<0.001) than that of the combined group (12.44±6.48d). CONCLUSION: PDR patients aged over 45y with mild cataract can also benefit from early lens extraction during PPV with gratifying effectiveness, safety and convenience, compared to sequential surgeries.

AIM: To evaluate the role of semaphorin 7A (Sema7A) and its associated regulatory mechanisms in modulating the barrier function of cultured human corneal epithelial cells (HCEs). METHODS: Barrier models of HCEs were treated with recombinant human Sema7A at concentrations of 0, 125, 250, or 500 ng/mL for 24, 48, or 72h in vitro. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) as well as Dextran-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) permeability assays were conducted to assess barrier function. To quantify tight junctions (TJs) such as occludin and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) at the mRNA level, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis was performed. Immunoblotting was used to examine the activity of the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway and the production of TJs proteins. Immunofluorescence analyses were employed to localize the TJs. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and RT-PCR were utilized to observe changes in interleukin (IL)-1ß levels. To investigate the role of NF-κB signaling activation and IL-1ß in Sema7A's anti-barrier mechanism, we employed 0.1 µmol/L IκB kinase 2 (IKK2) inhibitor IV or 500 ng/mL IL-1 receptor (IL-1R) antagonist. RESULTS: Treatment with Sema7A resulted in decreased TEER and increased permeability of Dextran-FITC in HCEs through down-regulating mRNA and protein levels of TJs in a time- and dose-dependent manner, as well as altering the localization of TJs. Furthermore, Sema7A stimulated the activation of inhibitor of kappa B alpha (IκBα) and expression of IL-1ß. The anti-barrier function of Sema7A was significantly suppressed by treatment with IKK2 inhibitor IV or IL-1R antagonists. CONCLUSION: Sema7A disrupts barrier function through its influence on NF-κB-mediated expression of TJ proteins, as well as the expression of IL-1ß. These findings suggest that Sema7A could be a potential therapeutic target for the diseases in corneal epithelium.

ABSTRACT

Defective mitophagy in renal tubular epithelial cells is one of the main drivers of renal fibrosis in diabetic kidney disease. Our gene sequencing data showed the expression of PINK1 and BNIP3, two key molecules of mitophagy, was decreased in renal tissues of VDR-knockout mice. Herein, streptozotocin (STZ) was used to induce renal interstitial fibrosis in mice. VDR deficiency exacerbated STZ-induced renal impairment and defective mitophagy. Paricalcitol (pari, a VDR agonist) and the tubular epithelial cell-specific overexpression of VDR restored the expression of PINK1 and BNIP3 in the renal cortex and attenuated STZ-induced kidney fibrosis and mitochondrial dysfunction. In HK-2 cells under high glucose conditions, an increased level of α-SMA, COL1, and FN and a decreased expression of PINK1 and BNIP3 with severe mitochondrial damage were observed, and these alterations could be largely reversed by pari treatment. ChIP-qPCR and luciferase reporter assays showed VDR could positively regulate the transcription of Pink1 and Bnip3 genes. These findings reveal that VDR could restore mitophagy defects and attenuate STZ-induced fibrosis in diabetic mice through regulation of PINK1 and BNIP3.

BACKGROUND: Accumulating evidence suggests a pivotal role of vitamin B2 in the pathogenesis and progression of prostate cancer (PCa). Vitamin B2 intake has been postulated to modulate the screening rate for PCa by altering the concentration of prostate-specific antigen(PSA). However, the relationship between vitamin B2 and PSA remains indeterminate. Hence, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the association between vitamin B2 intake and PSA levels, utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. METHODS: From a pool of 20,371 participants in the NHANES survey conducted between 2003 and 2010, a cohort of 2,323 participants was selected for the present study. The male participants were classified into four distinct groups based on their levels of vitamin B2 intake. We employed a multiple linear regression model and a non-parametric regression method to investigate the relationship between vitamin B2 and PSA levels. RESULTS: The study cohort comprised of 2,323 participants with a mean age of 54.95 years (± 11.73). Our findings revealed a statistically significant inverse correlation between vitamin B2 intake (mg) and PSA levels, with a reduction of 0.13 ng/ml PSA concentration for every unit increase in vitamin B2 intake. Furthermore, we employed a fully adjusted model to construct a smooth curve to explore the possible linear relationship between vitamin B2 intake and PSA concentration. CONCLUSIONS: Our study in American men has unveiled a notable inverse association between vitamin B2 intake and PSA levels, potentially posing a challenge for the identification of asymptomatic prostate cancer. Specifically, our findings suggest that individuals with higher vitamin B2 intake may be at a greater risk of being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in the future, possibly indicating a detection bias. These results may offer a novel explanation for the observed positive correlation between vitamin B2 intake and prostate cancer.

ABSTRACT

Here, we report a monomer planarity modulation strategy for room-temperature constructing molecularly imprinted-covalent organic frameworks (MI-COFs) for selective extraction of ochratoxin A (OTA). 2,4,6-triformylphloroglucinol (Tp) was used as basic building block, while three amino monomers with different planarity were employed as modulators to explore the effect of planarity on the selectivity of MI-COFs. The MI-TpTapa constructed from Tp and the lowest planarity of monomer Tapa gave the highest selectivity for OTA, and was further used as the adsorbent for dispersed-solid phase extraction (DSPE) of OTA in alcohol samples. Coupling MI-TpTapa based DSPE with high-performance liquid chromatography allowed the matrix-effect free determination of OTA in alcohol samples with the limit of detection of 0.023 µg kg-1 and the recoveries of 91.4-97.6%. The relative standard deviation (RSD, n = 6) of intra and inter day was <3.2%. This work provides a new way to construct MI-COFs for selective extraction of hazardous targets.

Intracranial aneurysm is a high-risk disease, with imaging playing a crucial role in their diagnosis and treatment. The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence in imaging technology holds promise for the development of AI-based radiomics predictive models. These models could potentially enable the automatic detection and diagnosis of intracranial aneurysms, assess their status, and predict outcomes, thereby assisting in the creation of personalized treatment plans. In addition, these techniques could improve diagnostic efficiency for physicians and patient prognoses. This article aims to review the progress of artificial intelligence radiomics in the study of intracranial aneurysms, addressing the challenges faced and future prospects, in hopes of introducing new ideas for the precise diagnosis and treatment of intracranial aneurysms.

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic and progressive interstitial lung disease with a high mortality rate and limited treatment efficacy. Nintedanib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is clinically used to treat pulmonary fibrosis. At present, only nintedanib is on the market for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis. Pazopanib is a drug for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma and advanced soft tissue sarcoma. Methods: In this study, we explored whether pazopanib can attenuate bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary fibrosis and explored its antifibrotic mechanism. In vivo and in vitro investigations were carried out to investigate the efficacy and mechanism of action of pazopanib in pulmonary fibrosis. Results: In vivo experiments showed that pazopanib can alleviate pulmonary fibrosis caused by BLM, reduce the degree of collagen deposition and improve lung function. In vitro experiments showed that pazopanib suppressed transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1)-induced myofibroblast activation and promoted apoptosis and autophagy in myofibroblasts. Further mechanistic studies demonstrated that pazopanib inhibited the TGF-ß1/Smad and non-Smad signaling pathways during fibroblast activation. Conclusions: In conclusion, pazopanib attenuated BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis by suppressing the TGF-ß1 signaling pathway. Pazopanib inhibits myofibroblast activation, migration, autophagy, apoptosis, and extracellular matrix (ECM) buildup by downregulating the TGF-ß1/Smad signal route and the TGF-ß1/non-Smad signal pathway. It has the same target as nintedanib and is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor.

ABSTRACT

Nitrate is a common contaminant in high-salinity wastewater, which has adverse effects on both the environment and human health. However, conventional biological treatment exhibits poor denitrification performance due to the high-salinity shock. In this study, an innovative approach using an electrostimulating microbial reactor (EMR) was explored to address this challenge. With a low-voltage input of 1.2 V, the EMR reached nitrate removal kinetic parameter (kNO3-N) of 0.0166-0.0808 h-1 under high-salinities (1.5 %-6.5 %), which was higher than that of the microbial reactor (MR) (0.0125-0.0478 h-1). The mechanisms analysis revealed that low-voltage significantly enhanced microbial salt-in strategy and promoted the secretion of extracellular polymeric substances. Halotolerant denitrification microorganisms (Pseudomonas and Nitratireductor) were also enriched in EMR. Moreover, the EMR achieved a NO3-N removal efficiency of 73.64 % in treating high-salinity wastewater (salinity 4.69 %) over 18-cycles, whereas the MR only reached 54.67 %. In summary, this study offers an innovative solution for denitrification of high-salinity wastewater.

BACKGROUND: An accessory extreme far anteromedial portal can improve visualisation and ease inferior leaf meniscectomy in patients with lateral meniscal anterior horn horizontal tears. However, the therapeutic outcomes of adding an accessory extreme far anteromedial portal remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of adding an accessory extreme far anteromedial portal for treating lateral meniscal horizontal tears involving the anterior horns. METHODS: This retrospective study included 101 patients with anterior horn involvement in lateral meniscal horizontal tears who underwent arthroscopic unstable inferior leaf meniscectomy between January 2016 and December 2020. The pathologies were diagnosed using physical examinations and magnetic resonance imaging. The anterior horn involved in the lateral meniscal horizontal tears was treated using inferior leaf meniscectomy. The primary endpoints were changes in the visual analogue scale, Lysholm, International Knee Documentation Committee, and Tegner scores at the final follow-up. The secondary endpoint was meniscal cure rate at 3 months postoperatively. The preoperative and postoperative functional scores were compared. The occurrence of complications was recorded. RESULTS: All patients were followed up for an average of 4.9 ± 1.2 years (range 2.3-7.5 years). After 4 months, none of the patients experienced pain, weakness, instability, or tenderness in the lateral joint line, achieving an imaging cure rate of 98%. At the final follow-up, significant postoperative improvements were observed in the average values of the visual analogue scale score (3.5 ± 0.7 vs. 0.7 ± 0.6), Lysholm score (62.7 ± 4.4 vs. 91.8 ± 3.1), International Knee Documentation Committee score (61.9 ± 3.7 vs. 91.7 ± 9.5), and Tegner score (2.0 ± 0.7 vs. 6.1 ± 0.7). Excellent Lysholm scores were obtained in 81 patients, and good outcomes were obtained in 18 patients, with an excellent-to-good rate of 98.0%. CONCLUSIONS: Inferior leaf resection via the accessory far anteromedial portal is a safe treatment option for the involved anterior horn in lateral meniscal horizontal tears. This approach enhances visibility and facilitates surgical procedures, with minimal complications.

ABSTRACT

Cuproptosis and ferroptosis represent copper- and iron-dependent forms of cell death, respectively, and both are known to play pivotal roles in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, few studies have explored the prognostic signatures related to cuproptosis and ferroptosis in HNSCC. Our objective was to construct a prognostic model based on genes associated with cuproptosis and ferroptosis. We randomly assigned 502 HSNCC samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) into training and testing sets. Pearson correlation analysis was utilized to identify cuproptosis-associated ferroptosis genes in the training set. Cox proportional hazards (COX) regression and least absolute shrinkage operator (LASSO) were employed to construct the prognostic model. The performance of the prognostic model was internally validated using single-factor COX regression, multifactor COX regression, Kaplan-Meier analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis. Additionally, we obtained 97 samples from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database for external validation. The constructed model, based on 12 cuproptosis-associated ferroptosis genes, proved to be an independent predictor of HNSCC prognosis. Among these genes, the increased expression of aurora kinase A (AURKA) has been implicated in various cancers. To further investigate, we employed small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to knock down AURKA expression and conducted functional experiments. The results demonstrated that AURKA knockdown significantly inhibited the proliferation and migration of HNSCC cells (Cal27 and CNE2). Therefore, AURKA may serve as a potential biomarker in HNSCC.

ABSTRACT

Recently, deep learning-based methods have emerged as the preferred approach for ultrasound data analysis. However, these methods often require large-scale annotated datasets for training deep models, which are not readily available in practical scenarios. Additionally, the presence of speckle noise and other imaging artifacts can introduce numerous hard examples for ultrasound data classification. In this paper, drawing inspiration from self-supervised learning techniques, we present a pre-training method based on mask modeling specifically designed for ultrasound data. Our study investigates three different mask modeling strategies: random masking, vertical masking, and horizontal masking. By employing these strategies, our pre-training approach aims to predict the masked portion of the ultrasound images. Notably, our method does not rely on externally labeled data, allowing us to extract representative features without the need for human annotation. Consequently, we can leverage unlabeled datasets for pre-training. Furthermore, to address the challenges posed by hard samples in ultrasound data, we propose a novel hard sample mining strategy. To evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conduct experiments on two datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in ultrasound image classification. This indicates the superiority of our pre-training method and its ability to extract discriminative features from ultrasound data, even in the presence of hard examples.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Endovascular treatment (EVT) of acute ischemic stroke caused by large-vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO) over 24 h of onset remains controversial. This study was to explore the safety and efficacy of EVT for patients with AIS-LVO between 24 and 72 h of symptom onset after rigorous imaging evaluation. METHODS: Patients with AIS-LVO treated with EVT were retrospectively enrolled and divided into two groups according to the time from symptom onset to groin puncture: 64 in the over-time group (>24 h) and 257 in the within-time group (≤24 h). Outcomes included 3-month modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score, functional independence (defined as mRS 0-2), successful cerebral reperfusion, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), and 3-month mortality. RESULTS: Patients in the over-time group had no significant differences in the functional independence (40.6% vs 42.5%, odds ratio or OR 0.91, 95% confidence interval or CI 0.52-1.60, p = 0.753), successful reperfusion (96.7% vs 95.8%, OR 0.76, 95% CI 0.36-1.59, p = 0.467), sICH (8.3% vs 6.7%, OR 1.20, 95% CI 0.42-3.38, p = 0.735), 3-month mortality (13.3% vs 10.8%, OR 1.17, 95% CI 0.51-2.70, p = 0.716) compared with patients in the within-time group. After matching adjustment, the results did not change significantly. CONCLUSIONS: The safety and effectiveness of EVT treatment for selected AIS-LVO patients with symptom onset of 24-72 h are not inferior to those treated within 6-24 h of onset, especially in a short term based on the pre-treatment advanced neuroimaging computed tomography perfusion even though further investigations are necessary to prove this finding.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been developed as an ideal platform for exploration of the relationship between intrinsic structure and catalytic activity, but the limited catalytic activity and stability has hampered their practical use in water splitting. Herein, we develop a bond length adjustment strategy for optimizing naphthalene-based MOFs that synthesized by acid etching Co-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid-based MOFs (donated as AE-CoNDA) to serve as efficient catalyst for water splitting. AE-CoNDA exhibits a low overpotential of 260 mV to reach 10 mA cm-2 and a small Tafel slope of 62 mV dec-1 with excellent stability over 100 h. After integrated AE-CoNDA onto BiVO4, photocurrent density of 4.3 mA cm-2 is achieved at 1.23 V. Experimental investigations demonstrate that the stretched Co-O bond length was found to optimize the orbitals hybridization of Co 3d and O 2p, which accounts for the fast kinetics and high activity. Theoretical calculations reveal that the stretched Co-O bond length strengthens the adsorption of oxygen-contained intermediates at the Co active sites for highly efficient water splitting.
